Seeing God in Small Places: Armenia Mission Trip Update
An unplanned surprise set the tone for a powerful journey. When Pastor Natalia invited me to attend a pastors and leaders conference, I had no idea how much that day would affirm the power of faithful obedience. Hosted by Luke Yeghnazar—an Armenian minister based in Los Angeles—the gathering boldly affirmed women in ministry, a courageous stance in a deeply patriarchal culture. As Pastor Natalia was introduced, I couldn’t help but reflect on her journey: her resolve, resilience, and the fruit of her faithfulness.

Throughout the day, hugs and smiles from Armenian pastors and leaders I’ve met before reminded me—I am home.
Later, we visited Ejmiatsin, the birthplace of Christianity in Armenia dating back to 301 AD. Walking through this sacred site reminded me of the deep spiritual roots embedded in this land. I returned to my room overwhelmed by the thought of how much God can do through one life that says “yes” to His call.
The next day brought another reminder of faith in action. I spoke at the church Pastor Natalia leads—now meeting in a newly renovated building. When their previous lease was terminated, it seemed like a dead end. But through prayer and unwavering trust in God, the impossible became possible. The church found a new property and transformed it. Their growth, community impact, and testimonies of strengthened faith echo God’s continued faithfulness.
That afternoon, I had the privilege of visiting Lake Sevan for the first time. Crisp air, ancient churches, and sacred symbolism created space for reflection. While hiking down, we came across a man having a medical emergency. Immediately, Pastor Natalia and I prayed. Moments later, a Russian man joined in prayer, as did others from different countries—interceding for a Japanese man. A holy reminder: the Body of Christ is one.

Before traveling to Artashat, we paused for lunch and conversation. I listened as Pastor Natalia shared how her church serves widows and children in need—providing medications, clothing, and compassion. Their monthly budget may be modest, but the impact is deep and wide.
Arriving in Artashat, my Armenian family greeted me warmly. Though one familiar face was away visiting relatives, a joyful video call brought her presence to the celebration. That evening, laughter filled the room as I was surprised with a birthday cake, Armenian coffee, and confetti—a true celebration of life, friendship, and faith.

In the quiet moments between ministry engagements, I took time to be still, to listen, and to seek what the Spirit is saying. In Armenia, there are no one-size-fits-all solutions. There is only the sacred work of presence, discernment, and surrender to what God is doing.
Over pastries and tea, my interpreter Lilit and I discussed theology, ministry, and the details of our work in Armenia. She is more than a translator—she is a bridge between cultures, a steady presence, and a vital partner in ministry.
Together, we traveled to Vayk, a village built on land once destroyed by volcanic eruption—now home to a vibrant Christian congregation. On the way, we were stopped by hundreds of sheep on the road, a humorous reminder of what it means to truly lead as a shepherd.

That night, back in my Armenian home, the day ended as it began—with coffee, cake, song, and deep gratitude. Ministry here isn’t always dramatic. Sometimes it’s the quiet conversations, the prayer in crisis, or the consistent presence that brings life out of death.
Each encounter is a seed, and we’re seeing the harvest unfold.
